The Fenrir Morph Signature project aims to provide existing signatures standards with a morph capability: “Sign once, distribute many”. This model enables any entity that has already acquired a signed document from a Certificate Authority to provide modified, but authorized, sub parts of this document, using the same original signature with no need for further request to the CA. More effectively, this morph characteristic allows a distributor to manage documents such as disclosing and blinding some sensitive parts according to surrounding and relevant context.

We aim, however, to implement our project by adding these functionalities with a minimal change of existing technologies.  The first version of the “Fenrir morph signature” API has been successfully integrated to the MONO implementation of the XMLDSig standard.

The main feature of our approach is the morph template. This one define which parts could be blinded, dubbed “Dynamic Parts DP”. Thus, we hope to enable an easy access to our approach by submitting the project online; hopefully to be adopted by the free community. Our signature schema could thereby be enriched to precess a large type of documents, e.g.  certificates (X509: with ASN syntax, SPKI with X-Expression), pictures (bmp), movies etc...
Stay tuned...
